There seems to be some action in Berkley, MI to look into enacting an ordinance that will require property owners to register their properties with the city. With the continuing sag in the economy contributing to the housing crisis, this is just one more community that is attempting to prevent blight in their neighborhoods from detracting from already poor housing prices. Although this ordinance is in the review stage, there is a good possibility that this may pass and cost vacant property owners more money to maintain their homes. Another chapter in the housing crisis is unfolding.
